Mesh Code is a desktop app for agentic coding on Mesh API. Point it at a project folder and it plans, writes files, runs commands, and starts dev servers there. Every step is either approved by a permission mode you picked or shown to you first, as a real diff or command. Mesh Code needs no Python, Node, or Mesh CLI installed. The app carries its own runtimes.
Mesh Code is in beta. Prefer a terminal? The Mesh CLI runs the same agent from Terminal or PowerShell.

Install

Each installer downloads the current release and checks it against the release’s published SHA256SUMS. A mismatch stops the install. If the release has no SHA256SUMS, no line for your file, or the checksum can’t be computed, the installer warns and installs without checking.
Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) on macOS 11 or later. There is no Intel build.
  1. Press ⌘ + Space, type Terminal, press Enter.
  2. Run:
The app is installed to /Applications (or ~/Applications if /Applications is not writable) and opens when the install finishes.
Prefer to read a script before you pipe it to a shell? Both installers are short: install.sh and install.ps1.

Direct download

Every build is also attached to GitHub Releases: Each release also carries a SHA256SUMS file. Check your download against the line for your file before you run it:
If the hashes differ, delete the file and download it again.
The macOS build is not notarised yet. A .dmg downloaded in a browser (or received over AirDrop, Slack, or Messages) is quarantined, and macOS reports the app as “damaged and can’t be opened”. Check the .dmg against SHA256SUMS as above. Only if it matches, copy the app to Applications and clear the flag once in Terminal:
The curl installer does not need this.
The Windows installer is not code-signed yet. Run from a browser download, SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”. After the checksum matches, click More info, then Run anyway. The PowerShell installer does not trigger this.

First launch

  1. Get an API key at app.meshapi.ai → API Keys → Create key. It starts with rsk_. See Authentication for key types.
  2. Open Mesh Code and paste the key into the API key field, then click Connect. The app checks the key against Mesh API before saving it.
The key is stored in ~/.mesh-code/credentials, readable only by you (0600 on macOS and Linux), and is only sent to the Mesh API gateway. The app shows only a hint of it (the last four characters). If you already use the Mesh CLI and are signed in, Mesh Code picks up the CLI’s key automatically and skips this step. It reads the CLI’s key and never changes it. For a guided tour, click Take the tour in the sidebar or Guided tour in the account menu. It never starts on its own.

Upgrade

Re-run the install command for your OS. It installs the current release over the existing app.

Data and uninstall

Mesh Code keeps its data in ~/.mesh-code (%USERPROFILE%\.mesh-code on Windows):
  • credentials: your API key.
  • sessions/ and transcripts/: saved conversations, including file contents and command output the agent read.
  • journal/: the project journals.
  • context/: per-project file maps and the agent’s saved notes.
Send feedback in the sidebar posts your rating and comments to a Google Form. To uninstall:
  • macOS: delete Mesh Code from Applications.
  • Windows: Settings › Apps › Installed apps › Mesh Code › Uninstall.
  • Linux: rm ~/.local/bin/mesh-code ~/.local/share/applications/mesh-code.desktop
Uninstalling leaves ~/.mesh-code in place, API key included. Delete that folder to remove your key and history. A key saved by the Mesh CLI stays in ~/.meshapi.
